Dr. Young: The easiest way for someone to check and maintain the body fluid pH is to test the urine and saliva.
The best time to test the urine is in the morning, because the morning urine is an expression of what you ate and what you drank and how you lived your life the previous, 24 hours. The morning urine is not a product of the blood; it is a product of the tissues. When you measure your urine, you are measuring the pH of your tissues. If your pH is below the ideal of 7.2, and it measures in the 5's or 6's, you are in tissue acidosis. When someone over-exercises they can go into lactic tissue acidosis. Lactic acid from over-exercise is felt in the connective tissues and muscles. When the muscles are sore, that's the tissues picking up the acid to maintain the alkaline blood pH. Acids Cause Heart Attacks and Strokes NOT Cholesterol!
A new national study has shown that nearly 75 percent of all patients hospitalized for a Heart attack or stroke had normal or low cholesterol levels. According to current savants this would indicate they were not at high risk for a cardiovascular event, according to current national cholesterol guidelines.
Specifically, these patients had low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol levels that met current guidelines, and close to half had LDL levels classified in guidelines as optimal (less than 100 mg/dL).
According to Dr. Robert O. Young, Director of the pH Miracle Living Center, "if you have normal or low blood cholesterol and are living and acidic lifestyle and diet you are at a higher risk for a stroke or heart attack than someone with cholesterol over 300 mg/dl."
"High blood cholesterol indicates that the body is trying to buffer excess dietary and/or metabolic acid. This is a good thing. Cholesterol is good not bad. Acid is bad and the cause of stroke and heart attacks," states Dr. Young.
"Almost 75 percent of heart attack patients fell within recommended targets for LDL cholesterol, demonstrating that the current guidelines may not be low enough to cut heart attack risk in most who could benefit," said Dr. Gregg C. Fonarow, Eliot Corday Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine and Science at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA and the study's principal investigator.
"Unfortunately, Dr. Fonarow and Cordsay just don't get it. Cholesterol is not the problem. The problem is a person's acidic lifestyle and dietary choices," states Dr. Young.
While the risk of cardiovascular events increases substantially with LDL levels above 40-60 mg/dL, current national cholesterol guidelines consider LDL levels less than 100-130 mg/dL acceptable for many individuals. The guidelines are thus not effectively identifying the majority of individuals who will develop fatal and non-fatal cardiovascular events, according to the study's authors.
"Persons who are at risk for a heart attack or stroke are persons who live an acidic lifestyle and diet, such as:
1) Lack of adequate exercise. You should exercise every day for at least 1 hour. And you should be sweating which helps to remove dietary and metabolic acids from the blood and tissues.
2) Eating animal proteins. Cut out all animal proteins for plant proteins, such as Hemp meal or protein. Hemp protein has twice the protein content than animal protein.
3) Eating dairy products. There are no substitutes for dairy products.
4) Vinegar. Never use it. IT is poisonous!
5) Mushrooms and algae. They break the body down and recycle it back to the earth.
6) Corn, corn starch and corn syrup. It is a strong acid and should never be consumed!
7) Peanuts. They are full of mold.
8) Eggs. Eggs are for creating a baby chick not for eating. They are full of bacteria. Approximately 38,000,000 million per egg. Eggs are dirty and filthy of the blood and tissues. They also activate the immune system to clean up the bloody mess.
9) Chocolate. Two acids - theobromine and methylbromine - they both kill.
10) Any form of sugar with the last 3 letters of "ose' or "tol." For example, sucrose or maltose, or Xylitol or Mannitol. All sugar in all of its forms is toxic to the body and should never be consumed.
These are the top ten acidic food choices that destroy a body and lead to heart attack or stroke," states Dr. Young.
Researchers also found that more than half of patients hospitalized for a heart attack had poor high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol levels, according to national guidelines.
"If you want to be healthy you need healthy fats. The healthiest of all the fats are the polyunsaturated Omega 3's found in flax seed and hemp seed. I suggest eating at least 2 to 3 ounces of healthy oil or fat a day. This helps to increase the high-density lipoproteins," states Dr. Young.
Published in the January issue of the American Heart Journal, the study suggests that lowering guideline targets for LDL cholesterol for those at risk for cardiovascular disease, as well as developing better treatments to raise HDL cholesterol, may help reduce the number of patients hospitalized for heart attack in the future.
"Sounds like good advise from the allopathic point of view but is is way off the target. The key is to decrease acidic foods and drinks and increase exercise, alkaline foods and drinks, especially the long chain fats or Omega 3's," states Dr. Young.
Researchers analyzed data from 136,905 patients hospitalized for a heart attack nationwide between 2000 and 2006 whose lipid levels upon hospital admission were documented. This accounted for 59 percent of total hospital admissions for heart attack at participating hospitals during the study period.
Among individuals without any prior cardiovascular disease or diabetes, 72.1 percent had admission LDL levels less than 130 mg/dL, which is the current LDL cholesterol target for this population. Thus, the vast majority of individuals having their first heart attack would not have been targeted for effective preventative treatments based on the criteria used in the current guidelines.
The team also found that half of the patients with a history of heart disease had LDL cholesterol levels lower than 100 mg/dL, and 17.6 percent of patients had LDL levels below 70 mg/dL, which are guideline targets for LDL cholesterol in those at fair risk and at high risk for cardiovascular disease, respectively.
The study also showed that HDL cholesterol, or "good cholesterol," levels have dropped in patients hospitalized for heart attack over the past few years, possibly due to increasing rates of obesity, insulin resistance and diabetes.
Researchers found that 54.6 percent of patients had HDL levels below 40 mg/dL. Developing more effective treatments to boost HDL levels may help reduce the number of patients hospitalized for heart attacks, according to the authors.
"We found that less than 2 percent of heart attack patients had both ideal LDL and HDL cholesterol levels, so there is room for improvement," said Fonarow.
Fonarow said that only 59 percent of patients in the database had their lipid levels checked upon admission, which should be increased, since these early measurements can often help guide treatment decisions.
He also noted that only 21 percent of patients in the study were taking lipid-lowering medications before admission, despite almost half having a prior history of cardiovascular events, which would prompt treatment.
"Bottom line, heart attacks and strokes are caused by acidic lifestyles and diets. If you want to reduce the risk for heart attack and stroke the focused needs to be placed on the personal lifestyle and dietary choice - and that choice needs to move to a more alkaline lifestyle and diet," states Dr. Young.
Specifically, these patients had low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol levels that met current guidelines, and close to half had LDL levels classified in guidelines as optimal (less than 100 mg/dL).
According to Dr. Robert O. Young, Director of the pH Miracle Living Center, "if you have normal or low blood cholesterol and are living and acidic lifestyle and diet you are at a higher risk for a stroke or heart attack than someone with cholesterol over 300 mg/dl."
"High blood cholesterol indicates that the body is trying to buffer excess dietary and/or metabolic acid. This is a good thing. Cholesterol is good not bad. Acid is bad and the cause of stroke and heart attacks," states Dr. Young.
"Almost 75 percent of heart attack patients fell within recommended targets for LDL cholesterol, demonstrating that the current guidelines may not be low enough to cut heart attack risk in most who could benefit," said Dr. Gregg C. Fonarow, Eliot Corday Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine and Science at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA and the study's principal investigator.
"Unfortunately, Dr. Fonarow and Cordsay just don't get it. Cholesterol is not the problem. The problem is a person's acidic lifestyle and dietary choices," states Dr. Young.
While the risk of cardiovascular events increases substantially with LDL levels above 40-60 mg/dL, current national cholesterol guidelines consider LDL levels less than 100-130 mg/dL acceptable for many individuals. The guidelines are thus not effectively identifying the majority of individuals who will develop fatal and non-fatal cardiovascular events, according to the study's authors.
"Persons who are at risk for a heart attack or stroke are persons who live an acidic lifestyle and diet, such as:
1) Lack of adequate exercise. You should exercise every day for at least 1 hour. And you should be sweating which helps to remove dietary and metabolic acids from the blood and tissues.
2) Eating animal proteins. Cut out all animal proteins for plant proteins, such as Hemp meal or protein. Hemp protein has twice the protein content than animal protein.
3) Eating dairy products. There are no substitutes for dairy products.
4) Vinegar. Never use it. IT is poisonous!
5) Mushrooms and algae. They break the body down and recycle it back to the earth.
6) Corn, corn starch and corn syrup. It is a strong acid and should never be consumed!
7) Peanuts. They are full of mold.
8) Eggs. Eggs are for creating a baby chick not for eating. They are full of bacteria. Approximately 38,000,000 million per egg. Eggs are dirty and filthy of the blood and tissues. They also activate the immune system to clean up the bloody mess.
9) Chocolate. Two acids - theobromine and methylbromine - they both kill.
10) Any form of sugar with the last 3 letters of "ose' or "tol." For example, sucrose or maltose, or Xylitol or Mannitol. All sugar in all of its forms is toxic to the body and should never be consumed.
These are the top ten acidic food choices that destroy a body and lead to heart attack or stroke," states Dr. Young.
Researchers also found that more than half of patients hospitalized for a heart attack had poor high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol levels, according to national guidelines.
"If you want to be healthy you need healthy fats. The healthiest of all the fats are the polyunsaturated Omega 3's found in flax seed and hemp seed. I suggest eating at least 2 to 3 ounces of healthy oil or fat a day. This helps to increase the high-density lipoproteins," states Dr. Young.
Published in the January issue of the American Heart Journal, the study suggests that lowering guideline targets for LDL cholesterol for those at risk for cardiovascular disease, as well as developing better treatments to raise HDL cholesterol, may help reduce the number of patients hospitalized for heart attack in the future.
"Sounds like good advise from the allopathic point of view but is is way off the target. The key is to decrease acidic foods and drinks and increase exercise, alkaline foods and drinks, especially the long chain fats or Omega 3's," states Dr. Young.
Researchers analyzed data from 136,905 patients hospitalized for a heart attack nationwide between 2000 and 2006 whose lipid levels upon hospital admission were documented. This accounted for 59 percent of total hospital admissions for heart attack at participating hospitals during the study period.
Among individuals without any prior cardiovascular disease or diabetes, 72.1 percent had admission LDL levels less than 130 mg/dL, which is the current LDL cholesterol target for this population. Thus, the vast majority of individuals having their first heart attack would not have been targeted for effective preventative treatments based on the criteria used in the current guidelines.
The team also found that half of the patients with a history of heart disease had LDL cholesterol levels lower than 100 mg/dL, and 17.6 percent of patients had LDL levels below 70 mg/dL, which are guideline targets for LDL cholesterol in those at fair risk and at high risk for cardiovascular disease, respectively.
The study also showed that HDL cholesterol, or "good cholesterol," levels have dropped in patients hospitalized for heart attack over the past few years, possibly due to increasing rates of obesity, insulin resistance and diabetes.
Researchers found that 54.6 percent of patients had HDL levels below 40 mg/dL. Developing more effective treatments to boost HDL levels may help reduce the number of patients hospitalized for heart attacks, according to the authors.
"We found that less than 2 percent of heart attack patients had both ideal LDL and HDL cholesterol levels, so there is room for improvement," said Fonarow.

Restricting Salt for Good Health?
I know you probably heard about the item last night on NBC Nightly News indicating that people should consume less than 1 tsp. of salt per day. The item on the NBC Nightly News quotes the Center for Science in the Public Interest. Doesn't sound like much of an interest in the "health" of the public, so much as their own interest in publicity. But a restriction in salt or sodium chloride is the single most contributing factor in causing ALL sickness and dis-ease or so-called disease.
I have written Brian Williams and have alerted him to his irresponsible journalism... citing our own facts and science.

Salt or sodium chloride is the major element of all of the body fluids and responsible for preserving and maintaining the alkaline design of the body. Please write your Congress Men or Women today and let them know that President Obama's so-called health plan is NOT the path to better health and fitness. Limiting the cost of drugs by Pharmaceutical Companies does not equate to better health for Americans. What this country needs is Education NOT Medication. Americans need to be educated in the knowledge of the New Biology(R) and the true path to health, energy, vitality and fitness.
Personal responsibility and the understanding of the pH Miracle Lifestyle and Diet and the importance of eating liberal amounts of salt daily is the only way.

Preventing and/or Reversing Venous Thromboemboism or VTE
I read with interest the appended article on the relationship between certain types of urine albumin and Venous Thromboembolism. I was particularly interested in this quote:
"The risk for VTE rises with age, with the incidence coming in at less than 0.005 percent in people under the age of 15 and increasing to as high as 0.5 percent in 80-year-olds. Slower blood flow and changes in blood composition are major risk factors, but in many cases no risks can be found."
But... the suggested treatment, "..microalbuminuria can be treated by nonanticoagulant medication.." apparently relates to anti-inflamatory agents, such as low dose aspirin, etc.. which is still highly acidic.
The increase in proteins in the blood and urine that can lead to VTE may be caused by several of the following factors:
1) Congestion of the bowel due to undigested animal proteins. This can cause congestion and/or damage to the intestinal villi leading to deficient and inferior stem cell and red blood production and an increase in thrombocyctes.
2) A diet high in acidic animal protein and dairy products can create an increase in blood and then tissue acidosis leading to increased amounts of blood and urine protein from cellular breakdown as seen in dried blood testing and urine analysis.
3) An increase in dietary acid can cause blood cells to stick together causing oxygen deprivation leading to blood and tissue breakdown and increased proteins in the blood and urine.
4) An increase in sticky platelets or thrombosis as the result of excessive red blood cell breakdown and the birth of red blood cell fragments, known as platelets. This biological transformation of red blood cells to platelets is caused by excess dietary and metabolic acid that has not been properly eliminated through the four channels of elimination - bowels, skin, bladder and lungs.
An increase in thrombocyctes or platelets is the result of red blood cell deterioration due to dietary and metabolic acid.
It was through years of viewing the live blood where I captured and recorded platelets being born out of the red blood cell as the red blood cell was breaking down or transforming. The biological transformation of the red blood cell to a thrombocycte is triggered by a decrease in the pH from dietary and/or metabolic acid.
To protect the blood and to keep it from sticking together or from transforming into sticky platelets you must support the alkaline design of the fluids of the body and keep the bowels clear of undigested animal protein and sticky acidic dairy products.

That's the take home message from Dutch researchers who followed more than 8,500 people over about an 8-year period. Those with higher levels of albumin in their urine were significantly more likely to develop venous thromboembolism, or VTE. Overall, 3 percent of people with higher levels albumin - known as microalbuminuria -- had a VTE during the study, versus just 1 percent of those with normal levels of the protein. Microalbuminuria is known to affect proteins involved in clotting of the blood.
"The fact that microalbuminuria has a high prevalence in the general population (7.2 percent) suggests that on the population level, microalbuminuria may be an important risk factor for VTE," write the authors.
The good news is microalbuminuria can be treated by nonanticoagulant medications, which means the treatment would not raise the risk for bleeding.
"Future studies are needed to evaluate the effect of these drugs on the risk of VTE," conclude the researchers.

The Top Seventeen Health, Nutritional and Medical Lies!
The following list includes the biggest health, nutritional, and medical lies, deceit, deceptions and inventions that we have been told by a doctor, a nurse, a scientist, a teacher, a nutritionist, a health guru, a Pharmaceutical Company, the American Medical Association, the American Cancer Society, the Center of Disease Control and/or the World Health Organization, just to name a few.
1) The Mexican Swine Flu Virus is a potential pandemic and can kill you.
This is a scientific illusion. Viruses do not kill, acids kill. All viruses are nothing more than dietary and/or metabolic acid. The word virus in Latin means poison or acid. All flu's or acids by definition effect only the gastrointestinal tract due to acidic foods and drinks ingested - not viruses. So the Mexican Swine Flu Virus that has been reported by the CDC to have killed over 1000 Mexicans is the result of an excess of gastrointestinal acid from the ingestion of acidic foods and drinks that have not been properly buffered by the stomach with alkaline salts or eliminated through the four channels of elimination - lungs, bowels, bladder and/or skin. For these unfortunate Mexicans or others in the US or around the world that have died, the cause of death was due to an excess of acidic foods and drinks, including Tequila, beer, beans, rice, corn, peanuts, yeast, soy sauce, high sugar fruit, processed sugar, artificial sugar, dairy products, chicken, turkey, beef and o f course the biggest acid of all - SWINE. That's right, the acids from PORK can kill. So 1000 Mexicans did not die from a pHantom Mexican Swine Flu Virus but they died from a dis-ease I call, "I Ate and Drank TOO Much Acidic Crap Disease." The simple solution for protecting you from an excess of gastrointestinal acid from an acidic diet and lifestyle that can and does kill is to increase your alkaline buffering mineral salts. All flu's or acid outbreaks can be prevented and reversed with sodium, magnesium, potassium and calcium bicarbonate. YES, it is that simple! 2) The Flu vaccine will protect you from the flu virus.
This is a falsehood. There is no such thing as a flu virus and therefore there is no need for a poisonous acidic flu vaccine made with chicken embryos, formaldehyde, mercury, detergent, and alcohol. The flu is the body in preservation mode increasing body temperature to activate the lymphatic system to remove excess dietary and/or metabolic acids in the tissues via respiration, perspiration, defecation and urination. The key to reversing the symptoms of the Flu is hydration with alkaline fluids and sweating with infrared sauna or exercise.
3) Taking antibiotics will kill bacteria.
This is medical subgerfuge and distortion as even the medical community realizes that antibiotics don't do what they are supposed to do. We say with alarm that disease is becoming resistant to antibiotics. They are not "resistant" because they have never been operative or effective. Antibiotics are the acidic waste products of fermentation. To make an antibiotic, you need a yeast or mold and some sugar for the yeast or mold to ferment. The bi-product of the yeast or mold fermenting the sugar is the acidic antibiotic. The acids from antibiotics DO NOT KILL BACTERIA. They only force the bacteria to change. Into what does bacteria change? Into yeast and mold. That is why when you take antibiotics you end up with a yeast infection! That's the antibiotic causing the bacteria to change from one form to another. I call this process of change "biological transformation" and the reason why you should NEVER take antibiotics. Try the COWS Plan. It is safer and more effective.
4) The stomach should be acidic and contains hydrochloric acid or HCL to digest food.
This is one of the biggest scientific misconceptions ever. First, the stomach is NOT and organ of digestion. Most so-called digestion starts in the mouth. That's why your mom said to chew your food. The stomach is an organ that alkalizes the food and liquids that you eat. The stomach cells, called the cover cells, secrete sodium bicarbonate onto the ingested food and drink to alkalize the food, not to digest the food. For every molecule of sodium bicarbonate produced by the stomach for alkalizing, a molecule of hydrochloric acid is produced as a waste product. Hydrochloric acid or HCL never touches the food or drink but falls into the gastric pits of the stomach away from the food and drink as the sodium bicarbonate rises to the top to alkalize the food and/or liquids ingested. This is necessary in order to prepare the food in an alkaline state for the duodenum and the small intestine where the liquid food is then biologically transformed into stem cells. There is NO part of the alimentary canal that does not secret sodium bicarbonate for alkalizing. In conclusion, the stomach is an organ of contribution and alkalizing, not a digestive organ as medical savants would have us believe. So now you know it is a whopper of a lie.
5) A cold is caused by a virus.
This is another whopper--a century long distortion. A cold is the body removing excess dietary and/or metabolic acids through the orifices of the body to maintain its delicate alkaline pH. Colds are NOT caused by viruses but are caused by eating too much acidic GARBAGE. I won't get YOUR cold if MY body is properly alkaline. Excess acids can also be caused by your thoughts or negative emotions which can also give rise to the elimination of these acids through various orifices, such as your eyes, ears, mouth or nose.
6) Pharmaceutical drugs may have side-effects.
What an intentional obfuscation this is! Pharmaceutical drugs do not have side-effects; they have EFFECTS! And lots of them! If you take the drugs, plan on them affecting your health in many negative and acidic ways.
7) The brain and body runs on sugar.
This is closer to gross ignorance than a lie. Sugar is a metabolic acid and has no value in the body. None. Zero. Zip. Nada. The brain and body does NOT run on sugar; it runs on electrons - just like every other cell in the human body. Increase your healthy brain function with more electrons with electron-rich food and water.
8) Cancer is a disease of the tissues.
NO! Cancer is not a disease of the tissues but a disease of the fluids of the body. After a trillion dollars spent since President Nixon declared war on cancer, we still pretend not to know what it is. But it has become a several hundred billion dollar industry.....larger than the automobile industry. Cancer is an acidic, environmental, dietary and/or metabolic liquid; it is NOT a cell and we ALL have some of it in our body to greater or lesser degree. The more acid we have in our body, the greater the risk for cancerous tissues. Cancer therefore is a four letter word: ACID! And cancer's fumbling, bumbling proponents have put forth another four letter word: MYTH.
9) HIV is a virus and causes AIDS.

Freedom with Greens
Good morning all!
As I am sitting here drinking my Goddess of Greens, reflecting on my alkalizing journey, some important thought came to me.
So, my first thought was, "This drink is so freakin delicious, I can have another one after this, oh, and another one if I want to, and one after that, too."
Being excited by that idea, I felt a sense of freedom; a deep freedom that goes beyond society, FDA, government, Pharmaceuticals, just kept going and going and going.
Freedom to live, live without fear of dying some horrible dis-ease, freedom to live without running to this doctor and that doctor just to find out, "We know you have (fill in dis-ease here) but we don't know how you got it."
Freedom without running to the pharmacy to pick up medications, freedom without worrying about pollen or not being able to go to the beach because the sun will kill us. Freedom from worrying when I am hungry I better eat something small so I won't gain 10 pounds.
Freedom from worrying about if my mom is going to get Alzheimer's and forget about me. Freedom from searching the web for rare dis-eases and how to cure them. The list goes on and on.
So, as I sat there and remembered all of the people who have told me how "extreme" I am being, I felt peace and guess what? FREEDOM!
On my journey of alkalizing, I have had a bumpy road, and it has all been good! I wouldn't change it for anything.
Living an acid life is actually more time consuming, more money consuming and worst of all, more life consuming. That is what occurred to me this morning.
To all you beautiful souls, HAVE A FABULOUS DAY! I have to go make another Goddess of Greens...........

Dr. Robert O. Youngs' Cancer Research Validated by British Scientific Study
"A new MRI technique using sodium bicarbonate could detect a cancerous condition before tumor formation or tissue degeneration. This experimental alkalizing test measures tissue acidity and could gauge if medical or natural treatments are actually working,"
according to Dr. Robert O. Young, a research scientist at the pH Miracle Living Center.
A new imaging technique that relies on naturally occurring baking soda or sodium bicarbonate in the body could help pinpoint a cancerous condition earlier and quickly gauge if treatments are working, British researchers said.
The non-invasive method uses magnetic resonance imaging to measure changes in alkaline pH -- or acidity -- in tissue that is often the hallmark of a cancerous condition and other conditions such as heart dis-ease and strokes, said Kevin Brindle of the University of Cambridge, who led the study.
Currently there are no safe ways to measure tissue pH levels in humans but doing so is important because tumors, for example, are far more acidic than surrounding tissue.
According to Dr. Young, "the urine pH is a simple and an inexpensive way to determine the acid/alkaline pH of the body tissues. When the morning urine pH is below 7.2 this indicates tissue acidosis and a potential for a cancerous condition in the body tissues."
"You are imaging not just tissue structure but tissue function," said Brindle, whose study is published in the journal Nature. "We wanted to measure tissue pH, which is a surrogate for dis-ease."

The researchers injected mice with a tagged form of sodium bicarbonate -- an alkali more commonly seen in baking soda -- that occurs naturally in the body and balances acidity of the body, Brindle said.
They used MRI to see how much of the tagged sodium bicarbonate was converted into carbon dioxide within the tumor. In more acidic tumors, more bicarbonate is converted into carbon dioxide.
"The body tissues use sodium bicarbonate as a primary buffer to maintain the natural alkaline design of the tissues and to prevent degeneration of that specific tissue," states Dr. Young.
The researchers measured pH levels using an emerging technique called dynamic nuclear polarization that boosts MRI sensitivity more than 10,000 times.
The method developed by GE's GE Healthcare unit involves cooling down molecules to near absolute zero and then warming them up quickly -- a process that keeps them polarized and easier to detect as an image.
"MRI can pick up on the abnormal acidic pH levels found in cancerous tissues and it is possible that this could be used to pinpoint where the disease is present and when it is responding to treatment," Brindle said.
The next step is testing the technique in humans in early stage clinical trials expected to start in 2009, he added in a telephone interview.

The researchers injected mice with a tagged form of sodium bicarbonate -- an alkali more commonly seen in baking soda -- that occurs naturally in the body and balances acidity of the body, Brindle said.
They used MRI to see how much of the tagged sodium bicarbonate was converted into carbon dioxide within the tumor. In more acidic tumors, more bicarbonate is converted into carbon dioxide.
"The body tissues use sodium bicarbonate as a primary buffer to maintain the natural alkaline design of the tissues and to prevent degeneration of that specific tissue," states Dr. Young.
The researchers measured pH levels using an emerging technique called dynamic nuclear polarization that boosts MRI sensitivity more than 10,000 times.
The method developed by GE's GE Healthcare unit involves cooling down molecules to near absolute zero and then warming them up quickly -- a process that keeps them polarized and easier to detect as an image.
"MRI can pick up on the abnormal acidic pH levels found in cancerous tissues and it is possible that this could be used to pinpoint where the disease is present and when it is responding to treatment," Brindle said.
The next step is testing the technique in humans in early stage clinical trials expected to start in 2009, he added in a telephone interview.

Cancer is Acid and Acid is Cancer
It seems that both red and white wine are "equal acidic offenders" when it comes to increasing the risk of breast cancer, according to a study published today.
"We were interested in teasing out red wine's effects on breast cancer risk. There is reason to suspect that red wine might have beneficial effects based on previous studies of heart disease and prostate cancer," Dr. Polly Newcomb, of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, Seattle, noted in a hospital statement.
"The general evidence is that alcohol consumption overall increases breast cancer risk, but the other studies made us wonder whether red wine might in fact have some positive value," she explained.
However, in their analysis, Newcomb's team found no difference between red or white wine in relation to breast cancer risk. "Neither appears to have any benefits," she said.
Among a large group of women with and without breast cancer, Newcomb and colleagues found that women who drank 14 or more acidic alcoholic drinks per week -- regardless of whether they drank red or white wine, liquor or beer -- faced a 24 percent increase in breast cancer compared with non-drinkers.
"If a woman drinks," Newcomb told Reuters Health, "she should do so in moderation -- no more than one drink per day. And if a woman chooses red wine, she should do so because she favors the taste, not because it may reduce her risk of breast cancer."
The findings are based on 6,327 women with breast cancer and 7,558 women matched for age who provided information about their drinking habits and other risk factors for breast cancer. The women, who were between 20 and 69 years old, were from Wisconsin, Massachusetts and New Hampshire.
The frequency of alcohol consumption was similar in both groups, and equal proportions of women in both groups reported consuming red wine and white wine.
According to Dr. Robert O. The Unscientific Nonsense of Gabe Mirkin's Acid/Alkaline Theory Article
Many of you have written to me concerning an article written by Gabe Mirkin entitled, "Acid/Alkaline Theory of Disease Is Nonsense." Actually, Dr.
Mirkin has chimed in with his two cents worth on any number of occasions, each time being approximately incorrect as every other time.
It is quite amazing that the allopathic community still does not understand some of the most fundamental activities of the human body including eating, drinking, digestion and most important pH fluid balancing.
The following are a few of the major statements made by Gabe Mirkin in one of his most recent articles and my subsequent comments about what he is saying.

Dr. Gabe states, "Have you seen advertisements for products such as coral calcium or alkaline water that are supposed to neutralize acid in your bloodstream? Taking calcium or drinking alkaline water does not affect blood acidity.
Anyone who tells you that certain foods or supplements make your stomach or blood acidic does not understand nutrition."
The truth is that taking alkaline supplements or drinking alkaline water will first buffer the dietary acids in the stomach before buffering the metabolic acids of the blood and tissues.
This is a good thing since the ideal pH of the stomach should be over 7.2 to do its work properly.
Current medical savants are simply incorrect when they state that the ideal pH of the stomach is in the 1.5 to 3.0 range. Further, any residual alkalinity that makes it into the blood stream will be thrown out into the interstitial fluids to buffer metabolic acids.
Dr. Gabe also states that, "vinegar is acidic and is used as a digestive enzyme. Protease, lipase and amylase are all acidic enzymes that break down proteins in the stomach and make the over-all pH of the stomach more acidic.
Most all supplements that help with digestion are acidic and will lower the pH of the stomach."
Wrong again, Dr. Merkin. When we ingest acidic digestive enzymes, we force the cover cells of the stomach to begin producing sodium bicarbonate to buffer the acidic protease, lipase and amylase.
In order for the stomach to produce sodium bicarbonate to buffer acidic supplements, food or drink, it must pull sodium, chloride, water and carbon dioxide from the blood. This can cause sodium and chloride deficiencies of the blood leading to enervation.
Also, for every molecule of sodium bicarbonate produced by the stomach, an acidic waste product of hydrochloric acid is produced which is taken up into the blood through the gastric pits causing an acidification of the blood and then tissues.
The blood cannot withstand the slightest decrease in alkalinity and so the hydrochloric acid is taken up by the connective tissues and the fatty tissues leading to latent tissue acidosis and the cause of all sickness and dis-ease.
Various parts of the body may also give up calcium, magnesium and potassium ions into the blood in order to help buffer the excess acids from the stomach.
When these important alkaline minerals are given up, especially on a consistent basis, this can then cause bone, muscle and other tissue to diminish or begin to degenerate due to the loss of these alkalizing ions. This is the cause of tissue wasting in what we refer to as degenerative dis-ease.
The secondary effects of taking acidic digestive enzymes and/or eating acidic food or drink is the damage to the delicate intestinal villi of the small intestine. When this happens, the body cannot produce healthy stem cells, erythroblasts and then erythrocytes.
This leads to blood disorders and then tissue disorders.
Without a healthy, small intestine, it is impossible to make healthy blood, and without healthy blood, it is impossible to make healthy body cells that make up body organs.
Dr. Gabe also states, "your stomach is so acidic that no food or drink can change its acidity.
Citrus fruits, vinegar, and vitamins such as ascorbic acid or folic acid do not change the acidity of your stomach or your bloodstream. An entire bottle of calcium pills or antacids would not change the acidity of your stomach for more than a few minutes."
This is just wrong. This is where Dr. Gabe Mirkin does not understand or has perhaps never been aware that the stomach lining secretes an equal amount of sodium bicarbonate into the stomach in order to alkalize the food, drink and supplements that we eat with a toxic acidic waste product of hydrochloric acid which is taken up by the blood to be eliminated.
When the body does not have enough sodium bicarbonate to alkalize food, the hydrochloric acid that is then produced will fall into the gastric pits of the stomach. Ideally, it would NEVER come into contact with the food as the sodium bicarbonate rises to the front or comes to the fore in order to alkalize the food or liquids ingested. The equation is:
NaCl + H20 + C02 <=> NaHC03 + HCL. The stomach begins producing and releasing sodium bicarbonate (an alkalizing compound) immediately when you put food or drink into your mouth. You can test the saliva after eating or drinking an acid food and you will find that in a healthy person, the pH of the saliva goes up to a pH of 8 or even greater.
When you put something into your mouth, the salivary glands immediately begin secreting sodium bicarbonate to increase the pH. This does not happen when you eat or drink an alkaline food or drink.
Another simple experiment will show you that when you combine sodium bicarbonate with hydrochloric acid in a flask, the hydrochloric acid will fall to the bottom of the flask as the sodium bicarbonate will rise to the top. This is what happens in the stomach. The sodium bicarbonate made from the cover cells of the stomach rises to the front to meet the food or liquids ingested as the hydrochloric acid falls into the gastric pits of the stomach away from the food or drink ingested. The primary purpose of sodium bicarbonate rising to the forefront is to alkalize the food, not digest or acidify the food. The stomach is an organ of contribution NOT digestion. Its main contribution is to manufacture sodium bicarbonate designed by Mother Nature to alkalize the food and liquids we ingest.
Dr. Gabe then states, "all foods that leave your stomach are acidic."
This statement is not categorically true as stated by Dr. Gabe. And ideally, it would never be true.
It would depend on how acid or alkaline the food is that you are dealing with and how healthy the body is. All food coming out of the stomach should be alkaline in preparation to be received by the small intestine at a pH of 8.2 to 8.4. If the food that comes out of the stomach into the duodenum is less than a pH of 8, then a healthy pancreas and gallbladder will secrete additional sodium bicarbonate in order to bring up the pH of the liquid food to an 8.2 to
8.4 pH. The secretion of sodium bicarbonate is only possible if the foundational elements of sodium, chloride, carbon dioxide and water are available from the blood. The stomach is the major organ for producing the alkaline sodium bicarbonate and is responsible for alkalizing and not digesting the food and liquids that we ingest.
Dr. Gabe also states, "the food enters your intestines where secretions from your pancreas neutralize the stomach acids. So no matter what you eat, the food in stomach is acidic and the food in the intestines is alkaline."
I would like you to understand that the pancreas and the gallbladder are only second in line or back-up glands to bring up the pH of the food or liquids ingested to the ideal 8.2 to 8.4 by secreting sodium bicarbonate. The alkalizing of our food and drink is very important in order that the liquefied food can be transformed into new stem cells in the crypts of the small intestine or the root system of the body for making new blood. If the liquid food is too acidic, it will harm and even destroy the intestinal villi. This will lead to many if not all sickness and dis-ease including all blood disorders.
Dr. Gabe then states, "You cannot change the acidity of any part of your body except your urine. Your bloodstream and organs control acidity in a very narrow range. Anything that changes acidity in your body would make you very sick and could even kill you. Promoters of these products claim that cancer cells cannot live in an alkaline environment and that is true, but neither can any of the other cells in your body.
First of all, there is no such thing as a cancer cell. There are only cells which have become cancerous. Cancerous cells-originally healthy cells-have been spoiled with dietary and/or metabolic acids. When you increase your alkalinity by simply using sodium bicarbonate, not only does your urine pH go up above 8, but your tears, sweat and saliva will also go up.
Our bodies are alkaline by design and acidic by function. Any food or drink that we ingest that will maintain that alkaline design will also preserve the body from aging and will keep it healthy, energetic and youthful.
Our body cells love alkalinity just like the ocean fish that swim in a pH of 8.3. My clinical microscopy and analysis over a 30 year period of research tells us that body cells thrive in mild, moderate and high pH fluids ranging from
7.3 to 11 pH. Body cells do not tolerate even a mild acid state. In fact cancerous cells thrive in a pH of 5.5.
Dr. Merkin goes on to state that "all chemical reactions in your body are started by chemicals called enzymes. For example, if you convert chemical A to chemical B and release energy, enzymes must start these reactions. All enzymes function in a very narrow range of acidity. (The degree of acidity or alkalinity is expressed as "pH."). If your blood changes its acidity or alkalinity for any reason, it is quickly changed back to the normal pH or these enzymes would not function and the necessary chemical reactions would not proceed in your body.
It is amazing to me how so many functions of the body are still not properly understood by so-called modern medicine medical practice that is still actually resting on the wrong foundational germ theory of Louis Pasteur. First of all, the body runs on electrons not enzymes.
The enzymes of the body are the exhaust or the acidic waste products of energy consumption.
We no more need enzymes to run our body then a car needs carbon monoxide to run. They are both acidic waste products of metabolism or energy consumption that need to be eliminated as quickly as possible through their exhaust systems. For the human body, acids would be eliminated through urination, perspiration, defecation or respiration."
Dr. Gabe states, "When you hold your breath, carbon dioxide accumulates in your bloodstream very rapidly and your blood turns acidic, and you will become uncomfortable or even pass out.
This forces you to start breathing again immediately, and the pH returns to normal. If your kidneys are damaged and cannot regulate the acidity of your bloodstream, chemical reactions stop, poisons accumulate in your bloodstream, and you can die."
Here Dr. Gabe is talking out of both sides of his mouth. He is right that when you hold your breath and if the blood cannot purify itself from the acidity, then you would die. But, this is the same thing that happens when you over-indulge in acidic lifestyles and diets. This is the same thing that happens when the body cannot eliminate its acidic waste products fast enough through its elimination systems and organs. So, dietary and/or metabolic acids that are not eliminated are thrown out into the blood and then into the connective tissues and fatty tissues leading to latent tissue acidosis the only cause of dis-ease. If this process continues and the lymphatic system does not or cannot eliminate the acid buildup, because of lack of alkaline hydration and exercise, through perspiration or back into circulation and then eliminated through urination, the acidic body wastes will begin building up and breaking down the body cells and tissues even while the blood is maintaining its alkaline state at
7.365 to 7.4.
When the acidity of the tissues continue, the blood overcompensates by pulling alkalinity from the bones and muscles into the blood and we then note a remarkable increase in the blood pH from
7.36 to 7.4 to 7.5. When the pH of the blood increases in alkalinity, we now know that the tissues are acidic and the body has entered into latent tissue acidosis. If this continues and the alkaline reserves of the body begin to be used up, the pH of the blood will reverse and go from a state of alkalosis or latent tissue acidosis to compensated acidosis to decompensated acidosis until death. That is why we see very sick people wasting away as the body is pulling its alkaline mineral resources from the bones and tissues into the blood in order to maintain the delicate pH balance of the blood at 7.365 to 7.4. When the human body is alkaline by design and acidic by function and is actively engaged in maintaining that alkaline design through an alkaline lifestyle and diet, it is theoretically impossible to lose bone mass or muscle mass or to get sick or tired.
Gabe states, "certain foods can leave end-products called ash that can make your urine either acid or alkaline, but urine is the only body fluid that can have its acidity changed by food or supplements."
The fact is that the urine is a direct reflection of the tissue pH, caused indirectly, in part, by food and drink, and can be either acidic or alkaline.
The ideal pH of the urine is 7.2 or above. Most folks have urine pH lower then 7.2. My own clinical research has indicated that an acidic urine pH will manifest as body fatigue and tiredness. A urine pH that is over 7.2 will manifest an energetic body.
Dr. Gabe says that "ALKALINE-ASH FOODS include fresh fruit and raw vegetables. ACID-ASH FOODS include ALL ANIMAL PRODUCTS, whole grains, beans and other seeds.
These foods can change the acidity of your urine, but that's irrelevant since your urine is contained in your bladder and does not affect the pH of any other part of your body."
Here Dr. Gabe has really lost his way. Alkaline foods include low sugar fruits, green vegetables, healthy oils, whole unprocessed salts, and alkaline water. Acid foods include dairy products, animal flesh, eggs, vinegar, soy sauce, peanuts, corn, high sugar fruits, high sugar root vegetables like potato and beet, mushrooms, algae, coffee, tea, tap water, tobacco, marijuana, most all prescription drugs, just to name a few. It is also important to note that the pH of the urine is a direct indicator of the pH of the body tissues. When the urine pH is acidic, you are more likely to be sick and/or tired. When your urine pH is alkaline or above 7.2 pH, you are more likely to be healthy and fit. People who are sick will always have an acidic urine pH. People who are healthy and fit will always have an alkaline pH.
It is that simple. That is why I have been teaching and instructing tens of thousands of people for many years that if you want to be healthy and fit, you have to pee and sweat your way to health.
Dr. Gabe goes on to say that "when you take in more protein than your body needs, your body cannot store it, and so the excess amino acids are converted to organic acids that would acidify your blood. But your blood never becomes acidic because as soon as the proteins are converted to organic acids, calcium leaves your bones to neutralize the acid and to try and prevent any
change in pH. Because of this, many scientists
think that taking in too much protein may weaken bones to cause osteoporosis."
Well, "right on" Dr. Gabe. You finally have explained something that conforms to the way that the human body actually works. The body does, indeed, pull calcium ions from the bones and magnesium ions from the muscles to buffer the organic acids from animal proteins in order to maintain the delicate alkaline pH of the blood.
But, it is very important to remember when you are pulling alkaline minerals from the tissues and organs in order to maintain the alkalinity of the blood, you end up with acidic tissues and organs that leaves weak and brittle bones, tissues and organs.
I would like to add that eating animal protein results in the release of uric, nitric, sulphuric, and phosphoric acids which the body tissues and organs do not manage well. You can test the morning urine after eating animal proteins and note the lowered acidic urine pH. The morning urine pH is a direct indicator of tissue pH and a person's lifestyle and dietary choices over the last
24 hours.
Dr. Gabe and I are in agreement that the body pulls alkaline minerals from the bones to maintain the alkalinity of the blood at the expense of weak or degenerative bones such as in the symptom of osteoporosis. Osteoporosis is the direct result of an acidic lifestyle and diet, especially the ingestion of animal proteins. You can protect your bones, muscles and other organs with an alkaline lifestyle and diet. So give up the "beef" Gabe, whether from animal or from emotions.
They are both acidic and compromise the delicate pH of the body fluids.
Gabe also states that, "cranberries have been shown to help prevent recurrent urinary tract infections, but not because of their acidity.
They contain chemicals that prevent bacteria from sticking to urinary tract cells."
I would explain it this way. Cranberries contain antioxidants that buffer the acids in the fluids of the body including the urinary tract. Bacteria is the result of cells that have transformed because of the over-acidic state of the body. Acids act like molecular glue. The antioxidants of the cranberries help to buffer those acids with alkaline compounds thus reversing the very thing that causes the infection, that is, metabolic and/or dietary ACID."
Dr. Gabe states: "taking calcium supplements or drinking alkaline water will not change the pH of your blood. If you hear someone say that your body is too acidic and you should use their product to make it more alkaline, you would be wise not to believe anything else the person tells you."
I would like you to understand that taking alkaline supplements or drinking alkaline water will help prevent the blood from pulling alkaline compounds from other parts of the body and thus helping to maintain its alkaline design. Nobel prize winner in medicine, Dr. Alexis Carrel, in 1912 stated, "the human cell is immortal as long as we maintain the alkaline fluids that it is bathed in."
I stated in 1986 that the human body is alkaline by design, however, acidic by function. If you can maintain the alkaline design of the body with an alkaline lifestyle and diet you will never get sick, tired or suffer from ANY dis-ease or disease.

Promoters of these products claim that cancer cells cannot live in an alkaline environment and that is true, but neither can any of the other cells in your body.
First of all, there is no such thing as a cancer cell. There are only cells which have become cancerous. Cancerous cells-originally healthy cells-have been spoiled with dietary and/or metabolic acids. When you increase your alkalinity by simply using sodium bicarbonate, not only does your urine pH go up above 8, but your tears, sweat and saliva will also go up.
Our bodies are alkaline by design and acidic by function. Any food or drink that we ingest that will maintain that alkaline design will also preserve the body from aging and will keep it healthy, energetic and youthful.
Our body cells love alkalinity just like the ocean fish that swim in a pH of 8.3. My clinical microscopy and analysis over a 30 year period of research tells us that body cells thrive in mild, moderate and high pH fluids ranging from
7.3 to 11 pH. Body cells do not tolerate even a mild acid state. In fact cancerous cells thrive in a pH of 5.5.
Dr. Merkin goes on to state that "all chemical reactions in your body are started by chemicals called enzymes. For example, if you convert chemical A to chemical B and release energy, enzymes must start these reactions. All enzymes function in a very narrow range of acidity. (The degree of acidity or alkalinity is expressed as "pH."). If your blood changes its acidity or alkalinity for any reason, it is quickly changed back to the normal pH or these enzymes would not function and the necessary chemical reactions would not proceed in your body.
It is amazing to me how so many functions of the body are still not properly understood by so-called modern medicine medical practice that is still actually resting on the wrong foundational germ theory of Louis Pasteur. First of all, the body runs on electrons not enzymes.
The enzymes of the body are the exhaust or the acidic waste products of energy consumption.
We no more need enzymes to run our body then a car needs carbon monoxide to run. They are both acidic waste products of metabolism or energy consumption that need to be eliminated as quickly as possible through their exhaust systems. For the human body, acids would be eliminated through urination, perspiration, defecation or respiration."
Dr. Gabe states, "When you hold your breath, carbon dioxide accumulates in your bloodstream very rapidly and your blood turns acidic, and you will become uncomfortable or even pass out.
This forces you to start breathing again immediately, and the pH returns to normal. If your kidneys are damaged and cannot regulate the acidity of your bloodstream, chemical reactions stop, poisons accumulate in your bloodstream, and you can die."
Here Dr. Gabe is talking out of both sides of his mouth. He is right that when you hold your breath and if the blood cannot purify itself from the acidity, then you would die. But, this is the same thing that happens when you over-indulge in acidic lifestyles and diets. This is the same thing that happens when the body cannot eliminate its acidic waste products fast enough through its elimination systems and organs. So, dietary and/or metabolic acids that are not eliminated are thrown out into the blood and then into the connective tissues and fatty tissues leading to latent tissue acidosis the only cause of dis-ease. If this process continues and the lymphatic system does not or cannot eliminate the acid buildup, because of lack of alkaline hydration and exercise, through perspiration or back into circulation and then eliminated through urination, the acidic body wastes will begin building up and breaking down the body cells and tissues even while the blood is maintaining its alkaline state at
7.365 to 7.4.
When the acidity of the tissues continue, the blood overcompensates by pulling alkalinity from the bones and muscles into the blood and we then note a remarkable increase in the blood pH from
7.36 to 7.4 to 7.5. When the pH of the blood increases in alkalinity, we now know that the tissues are acidic and the body has entered into latent tissue acidosis. If this continues and the alkaline reserves of the body begin to be used up, the pH of the blood will reverse and go from a state of alkalosis or latent tissue acidosis to compensated acidosis to decompensated acidosis until death. That is why we see very sick people wasting away as the body is pulling its alkaline mineral resources from the bones and tissues into the blood in order to maintain the delicate pH balance of the blood at 7.365 to 7.4. When the human body is alkaline by design and acidic by function and is actively engaged in maintaining that alkaline design through an alkaline lifestyle and diet, it is theoretically impossible to lose bone mass or muscle mass or to get sick or tired.
Gabe states, "certain foods can leave end-products called ash that can make your urine either acid or alkaline, but urine is the only body fluid that can have its acidity changed by food or supplements."
The fact is that the urine is a direct reflection of the tissue pH, caused indirectly, in part, by food and drink, and can be either acidic or alkaline.
The ideal pH of the urine is 7.2 or above. Most folks have urine pH lower then 7.2. My own clinical research has indicated that an acidic urine pH will manifest as body fatigue and tiredness. A urine pH that is over 7.2 will manifest an energetic body.
Dr. Gabe says that "ALKALINE-ASH FOODS include fresh fruit and raw vegetables. ACID-ASH FOODS include ALL ANIMAL PRODUCTS, whole grains, beans and other seeds.
These foods can change the acidity of your urine, but that's irrelevant since your urine is contained in your bladder and does not affect the pH of any other part of your body."
Here Dr. Gabe has really lost his way. Alkaline foods include low sugar fruits, green vegetables, healthy oils, whole unprocessed salts, and alkaline water. Acid foods include dairy products, animal flesh, eggs, vinegar, soy sauce, peanuts, corn, high sugar fruits, high sugar root vegetables like potato and beet, mushrooms, algae, coffee, tea, tap water, tobacco, marijuana, most all prescription drugs, just to name a few. It is also important to note that the pH of the urine is a direct indicator of the pH of the body tissues. When the urine pH is acidic, you are more likely to be sick and/or tired. When your urine pH is alkaline or above 7.2 pH, you are more likely to be healthy and fit. People who are sick will always have an acidic urine pH. People who are healthy and fit will always have an alkaline pH.
It is that simple. That is why I have been teaching and instructing tens of thousands of people for many years that if you want to be healthy and fit, you have to pee and sweat your way to health.
Dr. Gabe goes on to say that "when you take in more protein than your body needs, your body cannot store it, and so the excess amino acids are converted to organic acids that would acidify your blood. But your blood never becomes acidic because as soon as the proteins are converted to organic acids, calcium leaves your bones to neutralize the acid and to try and prevent any
change in pH. Because of this, many scientists
think that taking in too much protein may weaken bones to cause osteoporosis."
Well, "right on" Dr. Gabe. You finally have explained something that conforms to the way that the human body actually works. The body does, indeed, pull calcium ions from the bones and magnesium ions from the muscles to buffer the organic acids from animal proteins in order to maintain the delicate alkaline pH of the blood.
But, it is very important to remember when you are pulling alkaline minerals from the tissues and organs in order to maintain the alkalinity of the blood, you end up with acidic tissues and organs that leaves weak and brittle bones, tissues and organs.
I would like to add that eating animal protein results in the release of uric, nitric, sulphuric, and phosphoric acids which the body tissues and organs do not manage well. You can test the morning urine after eating animal proteins and note the lowered acidic urine pH. The morning urine pH is a direct indicator of tissue pH and a person's lifestyle and dietary choices over the last
24 hours.
Dr. Gabe and I are in agreement that the body pulls alkaline minerals from the bones to maintain the alkalinity of the blood at the expense of weak or degenerative bones such as in the symptom of osteoporosis. Osteoporosis is the direct result of an acidic lifestyle and diet, especially the ingestion of animal proteins. You can protect your bones, muscles and other organs with an alkaline lifestyle and diet. So give up the "beef" Gabe, whether from animal or from emotions.
They are both acidic and compromise the delicate pH of the body fluids.
Gabe also states that, "cranberries have been shown to help prevent recurrent urinary tract infections, but not because of their acidity.
They contain chemicals that prevent bacteria from sticking to urinary tract cells."
I would explain it this way. Cranberries contain antioxidants that buffer the acids in the fluids of the body including the urinary tract. Bacteria is the result of cells that have transformed because of the over-acidic state of the body. Acids act like molecular glue. The antioxidants of the cranberries help to buffer those acids with alkaline compounds thus reversing the very thing that causes the infection, that is, metabolic and/or dietary ACID."
Dr. Gabe states: "taking calcium supplements or drinking alkaline water will not change the pH of your blood. If you hear someone say that your body is too acidic and you should use their product to make it more alkaline, you would be wise not to believe anything else the person tells you."
I would like you to understand that taking alkaline supplements or drinking alkaline water will help prevent the blood from pulling alkaline compounds from other parts of the body and thus helping to maintain its alkaline design. Nobel prize winner in medicine, Dr. Alexis Carrel, in 1912 stated, "the human cell is immortal as long as we maintain the alkaline fluids that it is bathed in."
I stated in 1986 that the human body is alkaline by design, however, acidic by function. If you can maintain the alkaline design of the body with an alkaline lifestyle and diet you will never get sick, tired or suffer from ANY dis-ease or disease.
People have been listening to allopathic medical spokesperson like Dr. Gabe Mirkin for many decades.
Part of the reason that western medical science is in such disarray, part of the reason that 750,000 people die from medical treatment every year in America, and part of the reason that drug companies spend so much money wooing doctors, is that western medical science is controlled by inadequate, wrong-headed, and self-invested research programs and methodology. That research is controlled in large part by the pharmaceutical industry in conjunction with medical schools.
Almost all non-traditional and alternative medical practitioners use products that cannot be patented and do not reap obscene profits from people who are unhealthy and sick. I think it is fair to say that medicine controlled by patents are more about money than health.
Thus, with this value system, there is little reason for profit-oriented pharmaceutical companies to look beyond the present broken-down system and model.
I encourage spokespersons such as Dr. Gabe Mirkin to look beyond the present system and to ask new questions about how the body works, why so many people are sick, why the elderly are on half a dozen medicines or more, why so many people die in the care of our medical system, and why so many people are becoming increasingly distrustful of the present medical system.

Low Acid Lifestyle and Diet Slows Prostate Inflammation and PSA
A diet low in trans-saturated fat, high in alkalizing fruit and vegetables and low in animal protein, including dairy products, is associated with a "substantial" increase in prostate-specific antigen (PSA) doubling time and an increase in quality of life, according to results of a pilot study.
PSA is used as a biological marker for an acidic prostate; the higher this number gets, the greater is the man's risk of a cancerous acidic prostate or prostatitis (acid caused inflammation of the prostate). The PSA "doubling time" is the time it takes for PSA levels to increase by 100 percent.
The study subjects included 36 men with biopsy-confirmed prostate cancer who had received primary treatment for more than 6 months previously and who had increasing PSA levels.
Dr. James Carmody and colleagues at the University of Massachusetts Medical School in Worcester randomly assigned the subjects and their partners to attend 11 dietary and cooking classes and mindfulness practice to support the change in diet or to a control group.
Assessments of dietary compliance, quality of life and PSA levels were made at the beginning of the study, after the 11-week intervention, and again 3 months after the intervention was assessed. The findings are published in the journal Urology.
The intervention group consumed significantly less trans-saturated fat, more fruit and vegetables and less animal protein, including dairy products, than did the controls. They also reported more indicators of increased quality of life compared with the controls.
"Although no significant change was found in the rate of PSA increase between the two groups, the mean PSA doubling time for the intervention group was substantially longer at the 3-month follow-up visit than that of the controls," Dr. Carmody and colleagues report.
According to Dr. Robert O. Young, Chief Researcher at the pH Miracle Living Center, "a high PSA is a direct indicator of an acidic lifestyle and diet. There is only one cause of prostate inflammation that then leads to a cancerous prostate - ACID. Just like a rotten piece of fruit the prostate also spoils when affected by excess dietary and/or metabolic acids. I have found in all cases of prostate inflammation and cancer that when you focus on reducing the acid levels of the body with an alkaline lifestyle and diet you lower the PSA levels and reverse the prostate inflammation and cancerous condition."

Vibrate Your Acidic Fat Away!
According to a report that was published last year in the online edition of "Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences," imperceptible vibrations transmitted through the whole body could help prevent weight gain in mice by removing tissue acidosis and thus inhibiting the production of fat cells to store non-eliminated environmental, dietary and/or metabolic acid.
Staying slim may be as simple as standing still on a whole body vibrational plate, and allowing the vibration to exercise every cell in the body.
In a study led by Clinton Rubin, chair of the department of biomedical engineering at Stony Brook University, in New York, mice that stood on a vibrating platform for 15 minutes daily produced fewer acid bound fat cells than normal. The findings complicate a traditional understanding of weight loss that focuses mainly on metabolism.
Researchers have known for quite a while that mechanical signals can determine the fate of stem cells--undifferentiated cells that divide and become many different types of tissue - in the small intestine. Rubin, who calls himself a "bonehead," led the pack in understanding how bones develop long before he turned his attention to fat. "Mechanical signals are important for stem cells to decide what to be when they grow up," he says.
Bones need mechanical input in order to grow and stay strong.
Studies at NASA have shown that astronauts lose 2.5 percent of their bone density each month they stay in space. On the other hand, athletes, like archers or baseball players, who selectively work one arm or leg, will grow thicker bones on that side of the body.
According to Dr. Robert O. Young, Director of Research at the pH Miracle Living Center, "a stress in the body, whether intentional or not, will cause blood to flow to that area. The increase in blood flow will result in the blood transforming into new bone, muscle, nerve, etc., in response to the stress. This is why a tennis player will have one arm that is being stressed larger than the other arm that is not being stressed."
To solve the problem of bone loss in space, Rubin started experimenting with vibrations. At the Johnson Space Center, in Houston, volunteer test subjects endured 90 days of fully horizontal bed rest, which roughly simulates what the body goes through during zero gravity. Without having to carry the weight of the body, the skeleton loses much of its mass. So Rubin designed a vibrating platform that would recreate some of the strain of weight. For 10 minutes a day, the device gets cranked up to 30 hertz, an imperceptible level of oscillation. The vibrations run up the body through the feet, sending mechanical signals to stem cells in the small intestine. The signals reach these cells in their adolescence, before they differentiate, and encourage them to become blood cells that then become bone cells or something else.
At some point, Rubin asked the question that led him to study fat. "We saw that we could grow bones with these signals," he says. But "if we're growing bone, what aren't we growing?" As he showed in research published last year, the answer is acid bound fat cells.
