Acidity Leads To Infertility

Couples trying to have a baby when the man is over 40 will have more difficulty conceiving than if he is younger, French researchers said on Sunday.

Doctors know a woman's age plays a key role but the findings presented at the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology conference suggest the paternal impact is stronger than earlier thought, Stephanie Belloc and colleagues said.

"Our data give evidence for the first time, for a strong paternal effect on IUI (intrauterine insemination) outcome either on pregnancy rates but also on miscarriage rates," Belloc and her team from the Eylau Centre for Assisted Reproduction in France said.

Other researchers have indicated that an overall decline in sperm counts and quality as a man ages is a factor but until now there has been little clinical proof that simply being an older man has such a big effect on fertility, the researchers said.

"Sperm counts are effected by lifestyle and diet. Men over 40 are generally more acidic then when they were in their 20's and thus have weaker and lower sperm counts," states Dr. Robert O. Young of the pH Miracle Living Center.

The French team analyzed samples taken from more than 21,000 so-called intrauterine inseminations in which the sperm are washed or spun in a centrifuge to separate them from the seminal fluid and then inserted directly into the uterus.

The team examined the quality of the sperm and then tracked pregnancy, miscarriage and delivery rates.
They found the paternal impact on miscarriage was much stronger when men passed age 40, said Yves Menezo, who worked on the study.

As expected, older women were less likely to get pregnant and had more miscarriages than younger ones, but surprisingly the risk of miscarriage was also far higher for couples in which the man was past 40, about 35 percent. The risk from a man younger than 30 is about 10 to 15 percent, Menezo added.

"We have known there was a paternal effect for a while but we didn't expect to find these kind of miscarriage rates," Menezo said.

The researchers do not know exactly why but said a link between a man's age and DNA decay in sperm that causes it to fragment could be a likely explanation.

The sperm they studied showed that many samples taken from men over 40 had defects that could cause miscarriage, the researchers added.

According to Dr. Young, "the DNA decay in the sperm is the result of and acidic lifestyle and diet.
In order to have healthy sperm a man must have a healthy alkaline diet and be conscious of the importance of maintaining the alkaline design of his body."

"Until now, gynecologists only focused on maternal age, and the message was to get pregnant before the age of 35 or 38 because afterwards it would be difficult," Belloc added.

"But now the gynecologists must also focus on paternal age and give this information to the couple."

"The best advise at any age for getting pregnant and then having a healthy pregnancy without miscarriage is for the couple to alkalize before, during and after pregnancy. Conception can only take place in an alkaline environment and the long term health of the fetus is directly related to the Father and Mother's lifestyle and diet. It must be alkaline.
If not the risk for miscarriage and birth defects goes up significantly - especially after 40," states Dr. Young.

The Importance of Your Body's pH Balance

Each of us is at war and we don't even know it! The private war we each wage is a daily assault on our body by bacteria, virus, fungus, yeasts, and molds. We have entered what might be referred to as critical mass when it comes to this bacterial warfare onslaught being waged against us by stronger and stronger killer bugs and bad bacteria. But note Dr. Pasteur's dying words: "The germ is nothing, the inner terrain is everything."

The inner terrain referred to in Dr. Pasteur's statement is now being called our biological terrain and comprises our body's digestive tract, lymph system, blood, urinary tract, interstitial and interstitial fluids. Our bodies are alkaline by design and acid by function. Maintaining proper alkalinity is essential for life, health, and vitality. Simply put - an imbalance of alkalinity creates a condition favorable to the growth of bacteria, yeast and other unwanted organisms. All leading biochemists and medical physiologists have recognized pH (or the acid-alkaline balance) as the most important aspect of a balanced and healthy body. They have long known that the maintenance of an alkaline pH in our tissues and cells is critical to cellular health. Salt Contributes to Resistant High Blood Pressure

(HealthDay News) -- Too much salt can contribute to resistant High blood pressure despite taking several medications to control it, University of Alabama researchers report.

High blood pressure is called resistant hypertension when blood pressure remains above goal despite their taking three medications to lower it. High blood pressure that is under control, but requires four or more medications to treat it, is also considered resistant to treatment.

"High-salt diet contributes importantly to resistant-to-treatment hypertension and high volume and vascular resistance may contribute to resistant hypertension," said lead researcher Dr. Eduardo Pimenta, now at the Department of Hypertension and Nephrology at the Dante Pazzanese Institute of Cardiology in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Details of the study were expected to be presented Friday at the American Heart Association's Fall Conference of the Council for High Blood Pressure Research, in Atlanta.

For the study, Pimenta's team randomly assigned 13 patients with resistant high blood pressure, to a high- or low-salt diet. These patients were all taking at least three blood pressure medications.

The researchers found that patients on the low-salt diet saw their systolic blood pressure drop by 22.6 mmHg, and their diastolic blood pressure dropped by 9.2 mmHg, compared with people on high-salt diet.

In addition, body weight, as well as brain natriuretic peptide levels and thoracic fluid content, two measures indicating fluid reduction, also significantly increased among those on the low-salt type compared with those on the high salt, the researchers found.

"Patients with resistant hypertension, in spite of three or more antihypertensive drugs, are specially salt-sensitive," Pimenta said. "The blood pressure reduction achieved with low-salt diet was higher than some antihypertensive drugs."

Dr. Gregg C. Fonarow, a professor of cardiology at the University of California, Los Angeles, agreed that salt could contribute to resistant high blood pressure.

"This small, but interesting, study, shows among patients with medication-resistant hypertension that salt restriction has a substantial impact on lowering blood pressure by reducing intravascular fluid retention and improving vascular function," Fonarow said.

Recent large-scale clinical trials show that blood pressure can be effectively lowered by following the Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension (DASH) eating plan and by eating less salt, Fonarow said.

"Excess sodium intake, above 2,300 milligrams daily, should be avoided in all patients with hypertension, and among those patients with medically resistant hypertension, a closely monitored low-salt diet [1,500 milligrams daily] should be considered," Fonarow advised.

Determining your body's pH is very important. Your body regulates pH (the balance between acid and alkaline) in the same manner it regulates temperature.

Hydrate and Vibrate for Healthy Bones and Heart

When acidic-clogged plaque narrows an artery that feeds the heart, the body responds by trying to bulk up tiny blood vessels in the heart. As these so-called collateral vessels grow more muscular and interconnected, they begin to reroute some of the blood flow around the blockage. Scientists have been trying for years to nudge collateral blood vessels to develop and prosper, but without great success. However, you can do it at home without anything more high-tech than a comfortable pair of shoes, reports the Harvard Heart Letter in its January 2008 issue.

Growing new collateral blood vessels can ease chest pain (angina), limit heart attack damage, improve survival, and perhaps even offer extra time for emergency therapy in the case of a heart attack.
And exercise can boost these blood vessels!

Exercise dramatically increases blood flow and removes dietary and metabolic acids through the coronary arteries. The inner lining of the arteries responds to this "stress" much as it does to the stress of atherosclerosis, by stimulating collateral blood vessels to elongate, widen, and form new connections.

The Heart Letter notes that a little bit of exercise won't do the trick. You need to push your heart. If you aren't used to exercising, that may mean brisk walking. Any activity that gets your heart beating faster will do as long as you keep it up for 20 to 30 minutes at a time and do it several times a week.

Exercise removes dietary and metabolic acids and is a great way to prevent heart dis-ease, and a host of studies show that it can help some people with narrowed coronary arteries safely avoid bypass surgery or angioplasty. The Harvard Heart Letter asks: Why not give yourself a natural bypass before you need a surgeon to perform a more painful and hazardous one?

Exercise!! Everyday!!

One of the best low impact, low stress and fun forms of exercising, that exercises every cell of the body simultaneously, is called whole body vibration. Ten minutes of whole body vibrational exercising is worth over 1 hour of other forms of strenuous exercise.

In a research study of whole body vibrational machines, mice that stood on the platform for 15 minutes a day formed more bone mass and less fat.

"The funny connection between bone and fat is they all come from the same cell," Clinton Rubin, Ph.D., a professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the State University of New York in Stony Brook, told Ivanhoe.

A primary stem cell can become muscle, bone or fat.
Scientists have found that the gentle whole body vibrations cause the cell to turn into bone to tolerate the vibration.

"So, it's a different way of thinking about why we become obese," Dr. Rubin said.

In the study, mice exposed to the whole body vibrating platform formed about 30 percent less fat. The platform also showed promise in humans.
Postmenopausal women who stood on the vibrating plate maintained their bone mass, while those who didn't lost about 3 percent. Rubin says tennis players are a good example of how vibration leads to bigger bones. They have 35 percent more bone in their playing arms.

These vibrations may one day be a simple way to prevent or even reverse both osteoporosis and obesity -- problems that plague millions of Americans.

Nothing Tastes As Good As Good Health Feels

The following are some alkalizing suggestions from one of our pH Miracle's, Lisa Woodard:

Sausage, ham, bacon, omelets, biscuits, coffee, this is what I used to eat for breakfast, thinking I needed protein, but I would literally vomit from all the grease.

The Standard American Diet can be just that...SAD.
On the other hand, we can now turn our breakfast from sad to glad...Thanks to our Alkalarian cooking teacher, Shelley Young.

Thank you, Shelley: Creamy or Crunchy Broccoli Soup

2 cups vegetable stock or water
3.5 cups broccoli, chopped
1 red bell pepper
2 onions
1 avocado
1.5 stalks celery
Braggs Liquid amino's or pHlavor
Cumin and Ginger to taste

In a skillet, gently warm the stock and broccoli.
In blender puree remaining ingredients and combine.
Serve warm. Add a slice of lemon on top to garnish.

Zippy Breakfast (Youngs' Favorite)

1.5 cups cooked rice, basmati, buckwheat groats, millet, quinoa or spelt.
juice of 1 lemon
1.5 tsp oil (flax, Udo's, olive)
1.5 tsp Braggs or pHlavor
1 Avacado, sliced
1 firm tomato
Zip (Spice Hunter) to taste

Put warm rice in bowl. Slice avocado and tomato on top. Drizzle oil, pHlavor, and lemon juice over top. Sprinkle Zip to taste.

Variation: Add chopped red bell pepper,
sunflower seed sprouts, soaked almonds over top!

More Reasons to Stop Eating Animal Proteins

A pair of recent studies have identified potential health problems related to the consumption of processed meats, including breast cancer and Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

The consumption of red and processed meats was linked to a higher incidence of breast cancer, a connection that was particularly strong among postmenopausal women.

One explanation may be the acidic compounds produced when meat is grilled, such as heterocyclic amines and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, that have been shown to promote tumor growth.

Another study of more than 7,000 patients -- most of them seniors -- showed that cured, processed meats like ham, bacon and sausage were connected to lower lung functioning and a much higher risk for COPD, even taking into account numerous dietary and other risk factors.

Patients who consumed the most processed meats often ate fewer alkalizing fruits and vegetables than others did as well, which may have compounded the problem.

Dr. Young has suggested that the acids from animal proteins such as nitric, uric, sulphuric and phosphuric acid may be the primary cause of cancerous tissue. When acids from animal proteins penetrate the cell they spoil the cell causing the body to go into a protective mode.

One of the ways in which the body protects itself from acidic cells is to encapsulate these spoiled or cancerous cells with fibrin nets which then forms the tumor. The tumor becomes the solution to protect healthy cells and tisses from spoiling from acidic cells and tissues.
